WHAT STOPGAP DOES
StopGap works with voluntary sector partner agencies, such as Framework, (Sheffield's Rough Sleeper Team), to pay for bed and breakfast accommodation one night at a time. This allows both the client and the agency a small breathing space to seek out other housing solutions.
Since May 2023 we have been piloting a project whereby through our partner agencies, we place people newly at risk of rough sleeping in hotel accommodation.
We will be reviewing this pilot project later in the year.

Can you help someone who is rough sleeping or in danger of rough sleeping?
Local agencies working with homeless and vulnerable people, contact us to help arrange accommodation for approximately 2-3 nights to allow the referring agency time to work with them to address their longer term housing needs. It also allows the agencies to continue to work with people to help resolve deeper issues like substance misuse and poor mental health.
Our work helps. It provides a moment of security and helps people to get back on their feet.
From July 2019 to June 2020 we have helped place 305 people for a total of 737 bed nights.
A bed in bed and breakfast accommodation costs in the region of £30 per night.

StopGap's work with Sheffield Hallam University
StopGap have partnered with students at Sheffield Hallam University over the last few years on their Applied projects.
